Often, we think, say, do things, etc. from ‘our perspective’ not considering ‘will it benefit others’, ‘does it build’, etc.? The Christian life is not always about “me”!

April 11, Sat Give thanks for the Property Team – they do an excellent job!
I Cor 10: 26-33 “…I try to please everyone in everything I do” (vs 33) is not the same as being a “people pleaser”. In the world you will see people fighting for their “rights”; Christians too demand their “rights”. Paul teaches here that ‘even if you have a right, you have the option of surrendering it’ [continued in the following verses]. In the church! Solution? See vs 6-7. Why is it these days you rarely hear pastors and Christian leaders calling out sin in the church while very vocal of the sins outside the church?

Tuesday: 1 Corinthians 5:8-13 How easily we identify sexual immorality, but Paul includes a few others in this group – ‘greedy, swindlers, idolaters, reviler (i.e. loose mouthed, insulting), drunks, etc. How do we respond to these in the church – throw them out (vs 13b)! vs 12-13a: we have no business judging ‘outsiders’, don’t play God

Wednesday: 1 Corinthians 6:1-10 Paul shames (vs 4) the church for not reconciling issues within the Church, but taking it pagan outsiders, i.e. the courts. Noteworthy that the grace of God has enriched believers in “speech and knowledge”, and wants us to be found “blameless”

Tuesday: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17 Paul confronts the divisions and rivalries in the Corinth church – all centered around who people supported. He chastises them and calls for unity. A needed word in today’s Church.

Wednesday: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 The contrast between the world and the Gospel is eloquently contrasted here: the Gospel is foolishness to those who don’t want it, but it is power to those being saved. This Gospel is not a macho power domineering Christ, but the crucified …”God’s weakness is stronger than human strength” (vs 25)

Thursday: 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 God chose the foolish, the weak, the insignificant and despised to display God. The reason – so that no one can boast.

Friday: 1 Corinthians 2:1-8 Notice the posture in which Paul comes to these people – in weakness, fear, trembling. His desire was to know ‘Christ crucified’. Ask yourself if that is the kind of Christianity that’s practiced and preached today?

Saturday: 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 Paul introduces the work of the Spirit – it reveals truth, searches everything; the Spirit is from God. A person without the Spirit cannot receive the things of God because he does not have the mind of Christ.
