Bible Reading Plan: April 19-25

We invite you to join us in reading through the Bible together. We're not trying to complete it in a limited time frame like a month or a year; but rather, we want to create a habit (or discipline) of getting to know God's heart through what He's told us about Himself.
We are studying the Letter to the church in Corinth. It’s Paul’s corrective letter to a divided and morally compromised church. He confronts disunity, immorality, misuse of spiritual gifts, and confusion about worship and the resurrection. His purpose is to re-center the church on Christ crucified and risen, calling them to holiness, unity, and love.
When reading, ask yourself the following questions:

When reading, ask yourself the following questions:
- What does it say about God?
- What does it say to/about me?
- What can I learn from this reading?
- April 19, Sun Birthday: Lori Dow
Prov 1: 5 “Let the wise hear and increase in learning …” - April 20, Mon Do you know your “gift/s”? How is it employed at NVBC?
I Cor 12: 17-24 Notice who gives/arranges all the gifts in the Body, and for
whose purpose (vs 18). How radical and upside down is God’s
Kingdom – see vs 23 and 24. - April 21, Tues Pray that NVBC will be united in the coming seasons
I Cor 12: 25-31 We talk about “unity” in the Church / Body – and we all agree
enthusiastically. How does that happen? Well, you individually
have a role: “care for one another” (vs 25). Now the question
is – do you really care for others at NVBC? What’s the evidence?
How do you express it? What do you do? - April 22, Wed Birthday: Trinity Heim
I Cor 13: 1-7 [Read 12: 31b – “ … more excellent way”] Read this passage
slowly – it’s easy to understand! After each statement, ask
yourself “Am I _____?” - April 23, Thur Pray and receive God’s agape love continuously
I Cor 13: 8-13 “Love never ends” (vs 8)! Not only does it not end, but it is also
the “greatest”! Remember the word “love” here is the ‘agape’
love – that is God’s love. Irrespective of your personality,
feelings, etc. agape love is what God pours in. So, the question
is how / what does God’s love look like in you? Can others see
and admire that God honoring displaying love? - April 24, Fri Seek to practice God’s love either in your family / work
I Cor 14: 1-8 Whether prophecy or ‘tongues’, or other gifts, it is for the
‘building of the church body’ (vs 5c). Prophecy, which is in the
native language of the congregation is appropriate and
intelligible to the people present versus ‘tongues’ (that others
won’t understand). - April 25, Sat Pray for the next Pastor – that he would hear God’s call
I Cor 14: 9-16 Ditto – explained with more examples.
