Bible Reading Plan: February 22-28
We invite you to join us in reading through the Bible together. We're not trying to complete it in a limited time frame like a month or a year; but rather, we want to create a habit (or discipline) of getting to know God's heart through what He's told us about Himself.
For a more mobile friendly view of the daily readings, try our new site at https://app.nvbc.net, still a work in progress.
Starting this week we will read through different parts of the Bible to study how transitions between leaders happened in the Bible. What did people do? How did God work it out? Obviously, this is in light of the news from last Sunday – Pastor Joe’s resignation and the search for a new Pastor. God’s Word is going to be our search manual.

Obviously, this is in light of the news from last Sunday – Pastor Joe’s resignation and the search for a new Pastor. God’s Word is going to be our search manual.
When reading, ask yourself the following questions:
- What does it say about God?
- What does it say to/about me?
- What can I learn from this reading?
- Sunday: Psalm 144 “He is my faithful love ... my fortress …stronghold … shield”
- Monday: Mark 16:11-20 Why did the disciples not believe even though Jesus had told them that he would rise again, and eyewitnesses were telling them? The resurrected Jesus had one message … command …
- Tuesday: 1 Corinthians 15:3-8,12-20 The veracity of the resurrection is directly tied to the Gospel and salvation. If Jesus didn’t rise, the Christian faith is bogus, and we are still condemned in our sins
- Wednesday: John 20:19-29 Fear was the predominant emotion that ruled Jesus followers. Though the disciples were in unbelief, note that Jesus took the initiative to appear and convince them. Thomas was hard to convince, yet Jesus took an extra effort …
- Thursday: Luke 24:36-49 Jesus not only revealed himself to counter their unbelief, he requested a meal! And then, he goes back to teaching them from the Scriptures – the Word of God is essential and critical, especially when emotions and feelings fade away. Jesus wraps the teaching with the commission – sending them as witnesses
- Friday: Acts 1:1-8 To the disciples question on whether Jesus was establishing the kingdom of Israel, notice how Jesus dismissed that for a greater goal of God’s – being witnesses of the Gospel! A reminder for Christians in the chaos of politics – what is the our priority and passion? Ans: the Christian witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
- Saturday: Luke 24:1-12 vs 1 – faithfulness and love of Jesus is displayed by the women … though presumed dead, they were still loyal! Kudos to the women (vs 8) – “they remembered his words” … and believed, unlike the men, the disciples. [God’s Word is life giving, convincing, heartening, wisdom, etc.; it goes to places in our hearts and minds where nothing else can and do a great work! Jer 23:29, Heb. 4:12, John 6:63, Psalm 19:7]
