Bible Reading Plan: June 14-20

We invite you to join us in reading through the Bible together.  We're not trying to complete it in a limited time frame like a month or a year; but rather, we want to create a habit (or discipline) of getting to know God's heart through what He's told us about Himself.

We are studying the Letter to the church in Corinth.  It’s Paul’s corrective letter to a divided and morally compromised church. He confronts disunity, immorality, misuse of spiritual gifts, and confusion about worship and the resurrection. His purpose is to re-center the church on Christ crucified and risen, calling them to holiness, unity, and love.

When reading, ask yourself the following questions:
  • What does it say about God?
  • What does it say to/about me?
  • What can I learn from this reading?
  • June 14, Sun
Prov 3: 13 “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom … gets understanding
  • June 15, Mon Praise God for revealing the next Pastor!
2 Cor 11: 7-15 Paul is confronting his critics who have accused him of his apostleship, motives, etc. and states that he humbled himself, did not take money from them. He turns the accusation on them and says that it speaks more about their falsehood.
  • June 16, Tues Pray for the Griffins as they pack up and move
2 Cor 11: 16-21 Paul now says he is going to behave and talk like them, like a fool … he too could boast if he chose to
  • June 17, Wed Pray for Pastor Shamoir that God would give him wisdom
2 Cor. 11: 22-33 Paul lists his pedigree and his sufferings. Interesting that he chose to ‘boast’ is his sufferings and not his accomplishments. Often, we think / talk about the things we have done for God. Have you sacrificed or suffered because of your faith?
  • June 18, Thur Pray for the Griffins that they would find their residence
2 Cor. 12: 1-6 Now he talks of himself in the third person – of visions and revelations he was privileged to see. Why in the third person? Trying to hit a balance between not talking of himself and yet communicate that he’s had special moments and privileges.
  • June 19, Fri Anniversary: Chinara & Vincent Kates
2 Cor. 12: 7-13 “So keep me from being conceited …” (vs 7) Paul was given a “thorn”, which he asked God 3 times to remove but God responded, “My grace is sufficient for you …” (vs 9). What does this teach about challenges in life, prayer requests, and
    God’s answers?
  • June 20, Sat Birthday: Akume Ehogge
2 Cor. 12: 14-21 For all the accusations, Paul resists not only behaving like them but insists on loving them. But he has a worry – when he arrives, either he will be disappointed about their lack of repentance, or they might be disappointed in Paul.
