Bible Reading Plan: August 23-29

We invite you to join us in reading through the Bible together. We're not trying to complete it in a limited time frame like a month or a year; but rather, we want to create a habit (or discipline) of getting to know God's heart through what He's told us about Himself.
In the Epistles of John, written at the end of his life, John sends these 3 letters calling believers to know the truth about Christ, walk faithfully in it, and demonstrate it through love, obedience, and Christian relationships. He also warns the believer against false teaching and ungodly leadership
When reading, ask yourself the following questions:

When reading, ask yourself the following questions:
- What does it say about God?
- What does it say to/about me?
- What can I learn from this reading?
- Aug 23, Sun Worship Him in love, spirit and truth!
Prov 5: 15-20 the gist of these verses are ‘enjoy your wife’! No details needed - Aug 24, Mon Birthdays: Lucy Edwards, Julia Gross
I John 2: 12-18 What a tender appeal using familial language and emotions!
Then John goes on to teach us that you cannot love the world
and God simultaneously (cf. Matt 6:24). So what does love of
God look like? Answer vs 17b - Aug 25, Tues Birthday: Joe Goetz
I John 2: 19-25 [“antichrist” is someone who denies Jesus] It seems that there
were people in the congregation that confessed Jesus for who he
is, but now have left the church - their leaving and separation is
proof that they actually didn’t belong to Christ to begin with. - Aug 26, Wed Pray for a deepening of love of God, God’s Word, and others
I John 2: 26-3:2 There are people trying to deceive genuine believers. John
encourages us not to get confused. How / Why? We have God’s
anointing that teaches us, we abide in Christ …that’s confidence - Aug 27, Thur Birthday: Miranda Nichols; Anniv.: Natalie & Andy Yotko
I John 3: 3-9 These are strong words, with the warning ‘don’t deceive yourselves’: you cannot keep sinning and be born of God - it is either: or. If you are born of God, you will not practice sin. - Aug 28, Fri Pray for Pastor Shamoir as he readies himself for next month
I John 3: 10-16 Said differently, you are a child of the devil if you don’t practice righteousness or love your brother. Not loving your brother, which is the biblical equivalent of “hate”, is a murderer (vs 15). - Aug 29, Sat Pray for AWANA starting up in a few weeks
I John 3: 17-23 If you have more than what your brother / sister has and you see them in need, how could you say that God’s love is in you? Love of brother should be “in deed and in truth” (vs 18). Question - are you in the habit of helping others, especially if you consider how God has lavished on you?
