Bible Reading Plan: June 21-27

We invite you to join us in reading through the Bible together.  We're not trying to complete it in a limited time frame like a month or a year; but rather, we want to create a habit (or discipline) of getting to know God's heart through what He's told us about Himself.

We start this week in the Book of Joshua – it records Israel’s transition from a wandering people to a covenant nation under Joshua after Moses’ death. It highlights God’s  faithfulness where God teaches His people blessings that come through faith and obedience. Joshua foreshadows Jesus Christ, who leads believers into the eternal inheritance and rest.

When reading, ask yourself the following questions:
  • What does it say about God?
  • What does it say to/about me?
  • What can I learn from this reading?
  • June 21, Sun Let us rejoice in the LORD!
Prov 3: 21 “ .. do not lose sight [of] sound wisdom and discretion …”
  • June 22, Mon Pray for the Arts & Science Camp (ASC) starting today
2 Cor 13: 1-4 [Paul is confronting that group in Corinth, a minority, that was creating problems] Since Paul’s authority is at question, continuing from 12:12, Paul is referring to Deut 19:15, cf. Matt 18: 16-17, to indicate that these people will be confronted. This will not be in weakness, but with the “power of God”. How well do you do in confronting people? How well does the church do? What keeps us from doing it?
  • June 23, Tues Pray for the children attending ASC
2 Cor 13: 5-10 “Examine …”, “Test yourselves …” “whether you are in the faith?”. Why would Paul write that to a church that has professing Christians? Secondly, in vs 10 notice that “authority” that is used inappropriately can ‘tear down’; when used wisely, power and authority can ‘build up’.
  • June 24, Wed Pray for the those teaching and doing different things at ASC
2 Cor. 13: 11-14 What a great reminder for God’s Church – rejoice, aim for restoration, comfort and agree with one another, live in peace! If you do that “the God of love and peace will ….”!
  • June 25, Thur Pray for the families of the children who are attending ASC
Joshua 1: 1-9 God’s calling of Joshua has multiple promises (vs 2, 5). With the promises are conditions and requirements (vs 6-9)
  • June 26, Fri Anniversary: Chinara & Vincent Kates, Birthday: Lenore Sabal
Joshua 1: 10-18 Good leaders are also strong; they know where they are going – notice that Joshua “commanded” and gave instructions that were clear and time specific. When people know their leader has been called by God, their typical response is vs 16-18.
  • June 27, Sat Pray for Nate Nichols who is preaching tomorrow
Joshua 2: 1-14 Christians who are averse to research, surveys, evaluations, etc. in the context of ministry should pay attention to know that’s exactly what’s happening in this incident. Why didn’t God “reveal”, speak, etc. and let Joshua know the answers?
